Cryptocurrency: Collecting and Reporting Cryptocurrency

Many professionals realize that their clients have used some sort of cryptocurrency. This course will make sure professionals know which questions to ask and how to interpret the answers. It will explain how to do some basic calculations for cryptocurrency transactions and where those items appear on the tax returns. Examples of different types of cryptocurrency activities and where they are reported will be discussed. Prerequisite knowledge of the Schedule 1, Schedule C, Form 8949 and the Schedule D is required.
Upon completion of the course, participants will be able to:
Probe clients when they indicate they have cryptocurrency
Interpret the answers the clients give regarding their cryptocurrency transactions
Apply tax knowledge to cryptocurrency reporting requirements
Create tax return forms to appropriately report cryptocurrency transactions
Prerequisite is basic tax knowledge and a basic cryptocurrency class for terminology.
